Community Guidelines
Posting rules and community standards
The basics
- Be respectful. Treat other members the way you'd want to be treated.
- No spam. Don't flood the board with multiple posts of the same deal.
- No personal attacks. Disagree with the deal — not the person.
- Genuine deals only. If it's not a real saving, it doesn't belong here.
What to post
- Real deals with accurate prices from Irish retailers.
- Working coupons and promo codes — test them before posting.
- Storewide sales, clearance events, and seasonal promotions.
- Freebies and sample offers that are genuinely available to Irish shoppers.
- Always link to the source. A deal without a source link is not verifiable — include the retailer's product page or promotional URL.
What NOT to post
- Affiliate links without disclosure. You may use affiliate links, but you must declare them clearly in the deal description.
- Expired deals as new. If a deal has ended, don't repost it as active. Mark it expired or leave it for the community to vote cold.
- Misleading prices. “Was €100, now €99” is not a deal. Post only meaningful savings that a reasonable shopper would value.
- Off-topic content. PriceMatch is for deals, prices, and savings. Political, social, or general discussion belongs elsewhere.
- Deals not available in Ireland. Our community is Ireland-based. International-only deals create confusion unless clearly labelled.
Voting
- Hot — vote hot when a deal is genuinely good value. Something you'd tell a friend about.
- Cold — vote cold when something isn't a real deal. Artificially inflated “was” prices, misleading savings, or deals that can be beaten elsewhere.
- Don't vote cold because you personally can't afford an item, don't need it, or don't shop at that store. Votes should reflect deal quality.
- Don't brigade. Co-ordinating votes with others to push a deal hot or cold is against the rules and may result in account action.
Reporting
If you spot a deal or comment that violates these guidelines, use the report button on the deal or comment card. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team within 24 hours.
- Report deals that are expired, fake, or misleading.
- Report comments that are abusive, harassing, or spam.
- Do not misuse the report function to suppress deals you personally dislike.
